Progress (NASDAQ: PRGS), the leading provider of application development and digital experience technologies, has announced that Schneider Electric, a $30B global energy management company, has used the Progress Kinvey high productivity app development platform to transform its mobile user experience.

With a global presence in more than 100 countries, Schneider Electric offers leading energy management and automation solutions for homes, buildings, data centres and infrastructure across industries. In order to enable its massive global network of partners that purchase, install, service and support its products for customers, Schneider decided to revamp its mySchneider mobile app.

They selected the Progress Kinvey platform to consolidate apps and incorporate personalisation capabilities. The new mega-app now includes a tailored product catalogue based on user data, 24/7 availability even in places with limited connectivity, order tracking, distributor stocking and availability information, access to servicing information, account data, customer support as well as a gamification element and a loyalty program. In addition to building out the new mobile app features, Schneider wanted to adopt a microapps architecture to improve the user experience and reduce development time to deliver new app capabilities and features quickly, without rewriting significant portions of code.

Progress Kinvey enabled the Schneider Electric development team to create an app that runs across multiple mobile platforms using a single code base. The Kinvey platform also provided a modern serverless backend that auto-scales, delivers the flexibility to support frequent changes, and enables rapid integration with multiple enterprise systems and authentication mechanisms. Most importantly, the Kinvey platform enabled Schneider’s team to access powerful high productivity capabilities without sacrificing developer control in building their app.

“Progress Kinvey made mobile development seamless, enabling us to create an incredibly usable and powerful business app while speeding up the entire development process,” said Raj Sadasivan, Chief Digital Customer Experience Architect, Schneider Electric. “With Kinvey, we have the speed we need to push out new functionality to market as quickly as possible. What’s more, using Kinvey triggered an internal evolution and was a complete cultural change, enabling us to do mobile right.”

Through the use of the Progress Kinvey platform, Schneider was able to speed up the development process by 50%, and they are pushing new app releases six weeks faster than before. In addition, the app has been downloaded more than 200,000 times and has a 4.3-star rating on the Android Play store.

“With user expectations and business demands rising, companies are facing the challenge of pursuing fast app development without compromising quality,” said Dmitri Tcherevik, CTO, Progress. “Progress Kinvey platform brings the best of both worlds—with its high productivity capabilities it empowers companies to build high-performance scalable apps quickly while keeping the developer in control of the experience and the app itself. We are happy to see Schneider Electric reaping the benefits of that approach and delivering a superb mobile experience that is driving returns for their business.”
